Service Display?

Morning All

I read somewhere about displaying the mileage left until the next service by pressing the trip mileage reset button with the ignition switched off.

I tried this on my 55 plate CDTi and had 9,000+ displayed which surprised me as the car had only been service a 1000 miles or so earlier. I thought the service interval on these cars was 20,000 miles or one year.

Does this mean that I was mis-informed when I bought the car?

I think I had something similar with my 55 plate car. I brought it at 10k, serviced by Vx at time of sale. About 12k later service light came on which surprised me. I suspect that during the service at 10k, the interval was not reset, so my service at 22k was the original first service required.

Following the last service I had the service light reset, and the interval was up at 30k straight after reset. (My car is on EcoFlex - upto 30k or 2yrs).

If you're sure it was serviced, the interval can be reset by following this:

Keep in mind you'll be 1000 miles out if the car has travelled that distance since last service.

If your car is on 20k/1 yr you're not be on EcoFlex but EcoService.

I think you will find most mechanic's especially non franchise ones forget to reset it, still it's easy to do, just follow the link above, and welcome to the site, both of you.

Yea mine's been on a while now just keep on forgeting to ask about it. Just reset it now so thanks. Just check my service book.... it was done 13-06-06 with 62090 miles on the clock..... right now its on 65195 only done 3105 in 11 months

I reset the interval but it is now displaying 31,000.

Can anyone tell me if this the mileage it was last serviced at or is it the calculated distance before the next service is due?

It seem's to default to that when reset Brian, it will sort itself out in a few k's though, iirc it's a good indicator that they've put good oil in it, I'm sure mine said 20k when I last had her serviced, can't check it for you now after this weekends events.
