I just took mine on a road trip from Essex up to and around Scotland, covering a comfortable 1730 miles in a week. Even managed a respectable 50 mpg average and not one problem. As others have said, good maintenance will see you right.
….. and home 😀 1086 miles added and now just shy of 271000
Honestly i don't trust my car but that's why i like it so much. Will something else fail when the time is not right? yes it will, when will it be?

Hi Merlin - sorry, only just saw your question. Head - never been off. Have had issues with cam timing, but thats it. Current gearbox has done 150k, and original was on 130 when I pulled it for a suspect fault that wasn't -so I still have it as a spare. Biggest things done was both subframes changed, and on 3rd clutch
No apology needed JagRigger
Thanks for the info about your car, that is encouraging to know.
My Vectra has only done 117K and has the original gearbox although it's on it's 2nd clutch as the original was changed at 40K by the previous owner as part of the field remedy for the juddering at cold temperatures.
I have a working 2nd hand F17 gearbox and a fully reconditioned one in storage as well as a new LUK clutch kit for as and when needed.
Had new CAM gears and seals, CAM solenoids, modified CAM housing cover, water pump, cam belt and drivebelt at 100K.
What about starter motor and alternator problems on yours through it's time with you?
On second alternator but still original starter motor
..... and another Aberdeen trip completed. Poor old girl. Only managed 42 mpg this time, but it was £1.46 up there so not too annoyed
