Can't you use the key in the drivers door?
Push and hold the unlock button to open the windows, then use the inside handle.
Do not think the windows are bulletproof
or can resist a sledgehammer.

I can get in the car from the drivers side because the handles are on, the passenger's side internal handle isn't releasing the door, the external handle isn't there so I can't use the passenger side of the car.

Figured it out, the internal door handles don't work when the external door handles are off because you lock the external door handles in the open position to remove them, this neutralises all the rods and cables but not the lock, if you accidentally lock the car the door catch will catch again. Then your stuck like I was.
The solution. You can access the rod through the hole the handle was in with needle nosed pliers. Force the rod side ways towards the lock to release it from the handle mechanism, then push the rod down to open the door. You'll need to strip the door card off to hook the rod back in the hole and fit the red retaining clip but you're back in business.
