    Default rear brakes

    hi all my veccy is an 04 with 35 thousand miles on it and i found out today that my rear brake pads are down to bare metal i have just one query is this right as i have so warning sounds or lights for the front ...also how hard are they to do if i was to try it myself..

    yep, there are NO warning sesnor fitted to the rear brakes..just one on the nearside front wheel if you have a pre facelift.. or if you have a facelift then you haven't got ANY....

    they are really easy to change.. you just need a windback tool to do them..some quick links to follow in a mo...

    thanks for the reply ive been quoted 64.80 from quickfit so i might go there as they need doin badly ..

    not a bad price..as long as they know that they are wind in calipers..make sure they use copper grease when refitting the pads as they are prone to squealing in the calipers if you assemble them dry..

    I'd personally avoid KwikFit for brake pads
    On stripping them down they will almost certainly measure the rear discs and advise they need replacement, but completely forget about the rear handbrake shoes!
    Get two quotes from your local VX dealership;
    first for rear brake pads
    second for rear brake pads and discs,
    both fitted and supplied

    I used to use National Tyres, but would always check prices first, save me about 30%
    However, the difference between them and the dealership isn't what it used to be
