    Default Pug 307 coupe.

Comming home last night I went to the AVIS desk at manchester airport to pick up me hire car. I blagged an up grade and got the above. I was a little unsure as the last 307 hatch I drove was pish poor.

Still got it on the road and up the M56..I was really impressed. It's quiet, Quick and smooth. I even considered using the speed limiter as it was so hard to keep the speed down. The interior was really comfy. The only thing I didn't like was the pedals. As with most French cars, the pedals are rock hard.

On the back roads (took a scenic route home) the handling was every big as good as the old 306 which I still naven't found a car to match. Gotta say this motor has realy impressed.

It's a pity I'm giving it back on Sunday!

Same thoughts about the 407 coupe. I approached it with trepidation due to Peugeots reputation, but it was an extremely well built, well spec'd car. Still not discounted one as a replacement for the Vectra when I come to change. (Although being Mr decisive I still fancy a Saab Convertible, BMW M Sport, Audi A3 S-line and even a Vec VXR once I know what the residuals are going to be like)

When i used to work for Peugeot at the Ryton plant before i was made rudundant i used to get a new car every 6 months so i had a few 307's and 407's and i thought the handling was fantastic on the 407, what with it being a big car, it really did handle like a smaller car.I think it was due to the front suspension being a double wishbone type, The engine was fantastic, i always went for the 2.0 HDI 136 bhp (wish i had the overboost feature on my veccy) the only thing that let it down was the reliability, every single peugeot i had went back to the dealers, the majority of the faults were electronic based, i.e engine management light, airbag lights.

    Pug's have 3 strong points

    1 - Comfy seats
    2 - Good suspension
    3 - Good styling

Sad to say they still don't have the build quality up to scratch, I had a Citroen Picassole draw up alongside me last night, and all I could hear was the sound of a soon to let go gearbox, same mechanicals as a Pug for those who don't know it's the same company that owns both brands.
