3.2 GSI Cam Belt

Hi,

Could anyone please confirm when the Cam Belt is to be changed on the 3.2 GSI Vectra? I was told byt the "salesman" at Arnold Clark last year that this engine was chain driven, but that doesn't appear to be the case when I spoke to another VX garage the other day!

True ... Its a cam belt ... Over here its per 120000km ...

ignor service book change it every 40,000 allway better to be safe that sorry.

yep, VX advise every 80,000 miles, but they had a nasty habit of snapping around 60,000.. taking both heads with them.. it's best really to change it around 40,000 miles, and do the water pump at the same time as they leak at the gland seals as the mileage increases.. the pump is only £30, and you've got the same amount of stripping to do if you want to do it later, so it makes sense to get the two done together..

Hope mine survives until I put it in for it's service next month then. It's done 65k now and not been changed yet.

It's going into the stealers tomorrow to check the front suspension as it feels like a wheel is trying to part company (balanced twice with no difference) - but that's a story for the Suspension section once I find out what is wrong tomorrow ...
