Default Free AVG Anti Virus - Is It Any Good?

Does anyone have any opinion on whether a free download of AVG anti virus (for a Vista PC) is any good? My Norton subscription runs out in 2 days, and I don't like their renewal price, so I'm undecided between AVG (free) or McAfee (£14).

Get avast free a lot better, new upgrades for AVG are causing problems with some systems.

I used to use AVG, but it became so bloated that it slowed down my PC to a crawl.

Try Microsoft Security Essentials. Since I installed it, my PC is back to normal, and just importantly - protected.

AVG also runs from an exe file, easily disabled by a virus!

Don't use AVG. Use Avast and also malwarebytes is a great one

Microsoft security works as great as best antivirus, no need to add load to ur load list.

Avoid AVG like the plague. If you're after free and simple, Microsoft Security Essentials works fine.

Just what i said, simple to use, it really protects better than anything, cos microsoft want their microsoft users to be protected and stops customers from complaining to microsoft of problems which makes them refer you to download and scan free online scanner etc. microsoft own protection does it all for u now.

It is updated daily. One new problem a customer raise, microsoft update and everyone get the latest so problem's solved for microsoft and customers.

Good idea really cos independence software all get different problems and cant sort it all out. Microsoft is one big place all in one.

Another vote for Avast, just ignore the occasional requests to go to the paid version.
