Went to look at this tonight : Zafira 2003

Im looking for a Zafira DTi with a budget of 2k and so far the ones I have seen are pretty knackered inside as you would expect from all that abuse from kids. All that DNA just puts me off.

Anyhow went to look at this one. By the time I got there they were closed but it was good to have a good look around it at least.

The paint of the rear o/s door/wing will need some DA treatment and one tyre is in need of replacing very soon.

Inside looks very good though.

The only thing worries me is that the mot is due soon.

Still I should be able to go down there tomorrow for a test drive and if all is well then see if we can haggle a deal.

Dunno if its me but in one of the pics the drivers door looks a different shade of red ?, still looks a good buy if you can get 12mths MOT. Also ask if the bottom pulley has been done if not try and haggle that off the price (£145 iirc) + labour (its a ****** to get off !!!) as these are known to shear on the 2.0 & 2.2 DTi's

Oooo they are outdated arnt they lol. Looks in good nick like. But door is a different colour. Not a bad price either.

Looks in quite reasonable order, although as you say, there is quite a marked difference in the colour of the O/S rear quarter and rear door. Could well be it's had some bodywork done, although in fairness, how many cars reach more than a few years old without having something repaired these days. As long as it's been done properly, it's not a big concern really.

As for the MOT being due, if you are sorting out any sort of deal, then a full years MOT could easily be put into that as a condition. Does sometimes bother me a bit though that these small dealer/trader types never seem to have any great issues when they MOT their vehicles, makes me a tad suspicious.

Other than the above, a nice set of alloys on that would soon have it looking much more like the thing!

The door and rear wing have suffered from the usual VX red fading but the DA will bring that back to life im sure. Might need some tips though happy postie

Thanks for the tips on the pulley I will ask about that but sure I will get fobbed off. Not sure what that is but any more info would be good so when I ask I don't look like an idiot if they come back all technical with me.

Im keeping the vec though as I still have a year to pay it off. It's on 101.5 k now as I do 500 miles commute each week and I want it to last a bit longer

I need the 7 seats soon due to the third baby coming along at the start of may so this is why im looking for a cheap but safe family motor and so the vec can have a rest and just attend shows etc.

If its in good mechanical condition and the history checks out then I may have it but it will have to have a full years m.o.t. and yes i get supicious when small dealers get it done quick and easy but there is only so much you can do i spose.

My mate at work just sold his for £600, 05reg dti 250k on the clock but ran spot-on. Spent a lot on it though recently. Will do the miles them dti's.

The pulley is if you can imagine it like two metal rings bonded together with a rubber middle its the rubber bit that gives way and shears

I still like the older shaped Zaf, especially the GSI, keep trying to get the missus to ditch the A2 and get one, the A2 looks nice but its like driving one of those red bull hand built go karts!
