    Default 1.9 CDTI stalling

    Hi Guys,

I had my second service done at Vx on Wednesday and since then the car seems very prone to stalling. I wouldn't be surprised if the software was updated during the service and it's f****d something up...

It started yesterday when the car stalled as I was pulling from about 10mph in 2nd. That doesn't seem right, especially since you can normally safely pull off from a standstill in second - if you feel like it.

The worst this morning when I was pulling out of a junction and my car stalled when I was already halfway pulled out and another car was heading straight towards me!
Thankfully, he had space to pull round me - needless to say I felt very stupid!

I've been driving this car for nearly a year now - I doubt I've suddenly become unable to drive it!! It's always needed a bit of revving to avoid stalling it, but I'm sure it feels worse.

I've got to take it back to the dealer next week for some warranty work on the hand brake, and will mention it then, but I'm not expecting much...

Has this happened to anyone else since taking their cars in recently?

Take it back now mate. If it was fine before the service it's obvious it's down to them. Make sure the service manager drives it.

Can't do it before next week, although I have to admit I feel nervous taking the family out in it now.

Thanks for the advice - I'll ask the service manager to do exactly that.

It's getting there during working hours that's the problem. It's okay though - we can use Mrs Oilburner's Astra this weekend. No canbus, no fancy diesel fuel injection, it just works as it was meant to, bless it!

Dangerous as my Veccy could be, I need it to stall a few more times before I feel convinced it's not just me being a numpty! I appreciate the sentiments though, it was very nearly a brown trouser moment at that junction this morning...

My 3.0 diesel does that, ..... alot.... always has.... I'm unsure whether fitting a crd1 to it made it worse or better, but always did it..I've had to change my driving style to adapt, but it still catches me out, and the real killer is the fact I was always told "you can't stall a diesel..."..probably an old wives tale, but all the same I've never stalled so much as I have in this car...

Its yet to have its first service under my ownership.....
