    Default parking enforcement car

Did anyone see the parking enforcement programme last night?.. not sure of the channel but it highlighted an authority that uses a traffic enforcement camera car. This does away with many employed traffic wardens.
My schemes when I submit to planning gain sustainability points if they generate employment in the area - yet the council can be actively seen to be reversing this requirement!!

I'm not condoning illegal parking as it if you get caught then it is your own silly fault, but this seems wrong to me and not condusive to keeping people in employment which I firmly believe they should be seen to be doing....not to mention double standards: http://www.yourlocalguardian.co.uk/n..._yellow_lines/

The big problem is that councils generate so much income through these despicable schemes. How are they going to replace these money making ventures? You can bet taxes, rates etc wil alL increase to make up the shortfall. I do agree it is a rip off, but my real fear is that we will have to pay for it in another way. Eventualy all the high street shops will need to close down as the public are not allowed to park outside their local shop forcing us all to use the out of town retail parks.
    3.2 v6 Signum and loving it 😁

that was the main argument from the local shops and they were forming an action group,.. not that the council listen

Similar thing here on the Wirral. A Smart car with a camera that sticks out of the top of it.
The car is/was operated by NCP. They were forced by public opinion to display signs in the area when the camera car is operating.
The camera car has permission, by Wirral Borough Council, to park illegally to film other drivers parking illegally.
I'm talking about drivers parking on single yellow lines during the day, to nip into a chemist, that what happens here.
I do NOT condone parking on double yellow lines and outside schools.
I said was above because the camera car had its drivers door taken off by a bus. Car drivers fault.
That bus driver could be a alcoholic judging by the number of people who said they would buy him a pint.

They have been in use for many years in Scotland, no one up here seems to have a problem with them
However, they are being used correctly!

After discussing this thread with Wifey, and AFAIK, the camera car's cannot do anything about people parking or waiting on the ZigZag markings at a pedestrian crossing.
This is because that type of stupid parking is a Police matter only, as only the Police can issue a parking ticket, and 3 penalty points, to the offender.

    True or False?? Anyone know??

Yep... See them nipping about all the time in Glasgow. They used to be parked at night under the central station railway bridge by the water (does that even make sense?).

This was one of three locations where they were stored between duties, as staff travelled to/from Glasgow Central station
Ironically, when parked there they were covered by two CCTV cameras on the road

There was a big spread in the local rag a little while ago about the camera car, there was a couple who had been ticketed for pushing there broken down car off a busy dual caridgeway into a bus stop whilst waiting for recovery so not to cause any traffic build up, the council still charged the couple until pictures emerged of the camera car broken down in the same bus stop, then the council decided they had been too harsh and refunded the couple.

One of the councils has one for filiming around schools. The parents always park illegally when dropping the kids off or when picking them up, some waiting illegally for over an hour.

Ironic, the parents think they are protecting their kids, when they are actually putting them at greater risk due.
