    Default vectra dti fuel prob

    hi me again changed stat and cts sensor but still using alot of diesel still got broken glowplug and this time of year is pig to start seems like when it start it only fires on one or two cylindrs then will go to four and chucks alot of smoke out , would changing the other 3 plugs make any difference and what else could i do as been told head has to come off to do broken glowplug any more help would be grateful thanks

    my car was really crap on fuel while i had my broken plug in .i done my broken glow plug 2 weeks ago . have you got any bit of the plug showing ?. because i had about half half inch showing and me and my mate kept spraying it with wd40 for 2 days every hour and then he put a nut extractor on. the ones the cut in to it and hit it on and slowly got it moving . we tried this as my garage wanted £600+ to do it . plus when you put them in always put a bit of copper grease on the thread

    hi reeseandellie sorry for not replying but i had look at it and no 1 glowplug is snapped flush with head so nothing to get hold of and now found out that no 2 plug is just turning in head so dont know how to do that , did your fuel improve after you done yours

    yes it has . the only other way i was told it might be able to do is to buy the that you drill in and then screw in the reverse threaded extractor. but if that fails it is the head off job .

    Theirs company's out their that specialise in broken glow plug/ spark plug/ injector removal without taking the head off

    maybe worth googling

    with ref to my thread , my mate is going to try and drill out glowplugs and im hoping this will help my fuel consumption but my mate who works for vauxhall reckons it wont he just says that its how it is but does any body know what else it could be thanks,

    glow plugs have nothing to do with the fuel consumption , they are for cold starting & nothing else , still better to have them working though.
