    All the problems you see on here with the 1.9 CDTi engine plus they have the weaker M32 gearbox that can go.

    Why not get a Vec, and transfer some of your bits over, best of both worlds (your car with performance and mpg ).

    What leegsi said gearboxes are very weak bearings normally go could cost anything between £500 to £2k to fix so bear that in mind. Do a search on Astra Owners Network first and see what you think.
