No cons just don't loose the gasket pros daylight prob go off and ur car will run more smoothly and saves ya manifold
so take it off or leave it on
I personally would take it off, or rather leave it on, but blank it.
With it blanked (assuming no other issues present) then the pick-up will be much smoother and quicker, less smoke too, but you will get the spanner light for a short time and be left with the emission light on (the little engine symbol in the bottom right corner) - this is now an MOT failure, so would need to either get it remapped out, or remove the blank a few days before the MOT and refit after.
dont know if it matters but the swirl bar is also disconnected. didnt relly wana start mapping and modding. been there and spent too much money lol
The ****e the EGR feeds through will have gunked up the swirls and caused the bar to come off. Some on here have managed to get the bar back on, some remove the bar and stick the swirl valves open - others replace the manifold, its upto you which road you want to go down, but either way it will need sorting one way or another.
swirl bar will have fallen off because of all the crap the egr lets through you can glue them open or replace the manifold mine was the same I chose to replace the manifold all I can say is i wish my wife was that dirty but glad shes not that smelly
Replace manifold with upgraded one, blank egr and get a remap to give you more power/torque and map out the EGR. You can't physically disconnect it because the software still looks for it and needs to know its there. If it isn't, it puts the emissions light on again. The map causes it to remain shut and the fuelling is adjusted to suit that, but the valve still needs to be there.
there are no down sides to this solution, except the possible increase in insurance due to the remap. You can get it mapped out without the increase in power, but where's the fun in that...
cheers . i was palnning on sorting the egr out on satday. how the fck do ya get into the swirl bar thou couldnt even get a finger in there last night, has the IM gota come off to sort the swirl valves out until i get a new IM also is it a diy job or garage. IM removal dosnt look as simple as on my hyundai
