Default Cdti using a lot of water

My 150 cdti seems to be using a hell of a lot of water

Theres no creamy stuff under the oil cap and no smoke from the exhaust either

I can't see any leaks either my thermostat is goosed ATM but I have a replacement for it just need it fitted, could a dodgy thermostat cause it to use a lot of water?

No a duff thermostat wont cause it to use water. Take the expansion tank off and have a look at the rear. They are prone to a hair line split around the rear. Only £20 from VX for a new one.
