Make sure air filter box and pipe fitted correctly i.e no air leak.

Remove oil cap does it run better if so could be breather in cam cover.

Check evap valve pipes also take valve off and if you can blow through it it's naff.

I recently worked on a z16xer same problem... after an oil service and new oil filter the pcv valve inside the camcover decided to block causing oil sorts of problems one of them being the engine hunting slightly at idle.... plus a misfire on cylinder 3.

    Sorted it this way:

Told him to get a new camcover, with pcv valve, flushed the old 5w30 oil out replaced it with 5w40, new coil pack as swapping the spark plugs around didn't make the misfire jump.

Idle is smooth now but the new 5w40 is already black after 3 days of driving... I told him to do another engine flush and stick with 5w40.. as somehow his old engine oil turned to some thick mess causing the car to be sluggish...

And this is the 4th ecotec vvt engine I found that 5w30 is the wrong oil for them... 5w30 is for artic climates... where temperatures of -20 degree Celsius are considered normal. I can only imagine that the oil gets to hot and turns into this thick droopy mess coating the engine internals in itself and because it is thicker than it should be actually make the engine work harder to do it's job....

Up to you what you do regarding the oil but it could also be a simple air leak, as said above. If it was a bad maf it would pop up on your scanner.

Progress I tighten Airbox runs a little better. Check Evap valve that works. I checked engine breather pipe it works. I pull the MAF wire while the car is running, no change. I bought a new MAF it made no difference. I used different scan tool and got more information. Circuit short to ground. I googled don't want annoy the GurusI have read these engines have a issue with earth from MAF and temp sensor. I have exhaust leak in the middle section. I have a plan of action. Thank you all for the help.

What plugs did you use and did you check the gap?
