    Question Smoking engine after rebuild

    Evening gents,

Iv been offered a vectra 2.2 Sri and its smoking a fair bit. It just had a complete top end rebuild with all genuine parts but when you drive along and put your foot down it like a really bad foggy day! Any ideas to what the problem may be?

if it has been rebuilt after a chain failure it could be the rings , when the pistons hit the valves they can compress the ring gaps & nip the rings , this causes smoke at high revs .

It was rebuilt after a head gasket was going and running lumpy, it been skimmed and new everything has gone on apart from valves and cams. Genuine gaskets and valves stems too as kit was bought from a faux hall dealer. The engine runs very smooth and no banging or tapping what so ever

Didn't think the head gaskets gave on the 2.2... Was there another reason for the re build?
