Hello all,

As always, a first visit to a forum is often brought about by a problem - I'm no different. I've done some searching with no luck.

I recently picked up a 53 Plate Vectra C 2.0 dti. Changed some suspension parts (bushes and trailing arms) to get it through the MOT. Passed now. Came to drop the oil and the sump plug came out ok, but looks like the sump is stripped, plug goes in and tightens, but spins.

Rather then change the sump, I was going to use an alloy sump plug repair kit, but here's the problem: I can't find the Sump plug size. Is it an M16/18?? Does anyone know the diameters/thread size?

Any assistance would be appreciated!

Most motor factors now keep new plug sets, if you get a new one then a Helicoil set to repair the sump you will be all set and good

Thanks for the welcome posts guys.

I've been reading about helicoil sets etc. The reason I ask the size, is a local mechanic has an alloy sump repair kit (I'm assuming it's similar to the Wurth Timesert) and said I could lend the kit, just needed to know the size!!
