Default Front spring - VX Meriva

    Hi chaps,

Went to the pub with a couple of friends earlier and they gave me a lift home in their Meriva. As we got in, there was a twang (the classic spring breaking sound). I checked the front suspension and found about 3 inches had broken off the bottom of the offside coil.

Said I'd put a replacement on for them, but not done one on a Meriva before. Anyone got any experience? It looks like, unlike my lovely Vec, the strut top mount and nut are buried in the engine bay with a fluid reservoir above (not sure which one, it was dark!)

Anyone got any tips for me on this job?!

I take it you mean a Meriva A not the new shape (suicide rear doors).

I'll take a look for you on Vauxhall TIS tomorrow.

    Yeah, it's a 2005 model I think mate. 1.7 diesel.

Thanks for your help, much appreciated. I'd normally go ahead with suspension work, but in this case it looks like a pain in the bum!

Right had a look and the actual strut removal is the same as most other Vauxhalls.

As you say, it's getting to the strut tops that's the fun bit.

You need to remove the Rubber seal (1), the Front wipers (2) and the cowl across the width of the front of the car. (8 Screws - arrowed)

    Then remove the Secondary bulkhead.
Which is 6 screws (arrowed) and a clip (1)

You can then get to the front struts. It had no mention of a fluid reservoir to be removed.

    Good luck!
