Default Astra VXR gearknob, easy to fit?

Just won an astra VXR gearknob, but how easy is it to fit?, it is coming with the gaiter and knob, is it just a straight swap?

The knob is an easy fit, you just need to swap the gaitors over mate as they're a different size and shape. Have a needle and thread ready....

Just done this mate. You need the gear lever as well, as its shorter. The lift up mechanism won't reach the gate.

Correct, as you used the gearstick and not just the knob

It will fit with a bit of fettling at worst. Have an Astra one on mine thanks to JohnIS3. Involved taking the white plastic bit from the standard gear stick and stapling the base of the gaitor of the Astra VXR one onto it then refitting.
