they send you the device which they call a Maptuner, its programmed to the VIN number of your car so will only program your car. You plug it into your ODB socket below the front ashtray and tell it to send the new map to your car wile the ignition is at position 2 (engine not running), simples.... you can also you it for clearing the eml light and codes that cause it if you get any, you can do this with the engine running and have somebody do it for you whilst driving if you like.
It connecst to your laptop/PC via USB cable which allows you to get map updates direct from Maptun over the internet if you need any or move up to the next tuning stage. The newer Maptuners also allow you to record power runs etc which you save to the device then can upload to Maptun for them to analyse if needed (they need to be advised in advance you are wanting to upload power runs so they can be ready to receive them from your device).
Sounds good to me so how does a stage 1 feel over standard power
why not get a proper rolling road remap
dunno mate, i skipped it and went the old stage 3 first then to the old stage 5. they have changed them since i started out with their maps
So what bhp are you running at the moment and how does it feel in comparison to a standard 2.0 turbo
Nige is running in the high 200's, so it's not really worth asking how his particular car feels compared to a standard 2.0T, as you'd have to be in a coma not to be able to feel the difference...lol. A more realistic comparison is mine, running about 215, and it feels totally different to a standard 2.0. I don't know about anyone else, but in 175 BHP trim it always felt like an engine that had been detuned down to that level (which it is, in effect) rather than one making a fair amount of power for its size. With the remap, not only does it go much faster (you can feel the extra BHP straight away), but it also now feels like it's using more of its potential.
I'm running the Maptun stage 2 map (which is actually the 3rd stage in Maptun tuning as there's a 1+ as well as a 1 for some bizarre reason).
215bhp and the difference from standard is like chalk and cheese, the car's responsive, fast, feels powerful and agressive if you need it to be.
Nige is running about 280bhp I believe so as rebellion says not really a fair comparison to stage 1 lol
