Default Main Dealer Stamp is it worth anything

The Vectra is due a Service at the end of February. To date it has a perfect service history at the main dealer. I am planning to change the car at some point this year and can't decide Whether to take it to the main dealer or not. It will be serviced but is the main dealer stamp
Worth anything. If not the local man can do it. Thought much appreciated. By the way it is an 06 v6 cdti so has a little bit of value at part ex level!!

It's more for when the car is several years old and several owners down the line
If the service book is included then it shows the car was well looked after when it was younger

It doesn't make much difference on a Vectra, but on a Porsche, Ferrari, etc it can be the difference between paying top dollar or bargain basement

Equally, would you pay £2000 for a Vectra : no service history
    or
    full VSH and all receipts

Ironically when I trade my cars in only the service book and latest MoT is included, the dealership gives me everything else back
I put a note to the next owner that receipts are available on request for the next 3 months, but never received such a request

Finally, when the car is under 6 years (5 years in Scotland) old it is still under the Goods and Services Act
A full VSH can be very useful
In the event a major component fails VX will often make a contribution where the car has been fully serviced by a dealership

Hi it is 6 in June and as previously stated it is perfect ie each stamp is 12 months give or take a couple of days. The none main dealer service would be done well as it is a neighbour who is Vauxhall trained and just set up on his own.

As long as you've got a stamp in the book for the next service (i.e. rather than just your word that the service was done), then which garage it was from won't make any tangible difference to the value of your car. There are too many other factors affecting the price (that it's a common model, obsolete, big engined, recession looming, etc etc) for the choice of garage to have an effect. The buyer will see that it was serviced and be happy with it. The only effect would be on a just-out-of-warranty claim where you're asking Vauxhall HQ to make a goodwill contribution, and one of the hoops they like to make customers jump through is to show that you've always given your business to Vauxhall dealers for the servicing work.

At 6 years old and above 60K miles then so long as it has a service stamp it will look good when you come to sell the car

As above, when mine get to 140K miles would anyone really care?
Well they must do as my previous Vectra B 1998 is still on the go!

I don't really think it will make a blind bit of difference to the value of the car. When I traded my old car, and the saleman said that as long as it has a stamp it made no difference.

I always self service and I have a stamp too.

I think main dealer for the service then the neighbour with the list of additional faults they find.

I think a stamp from any reputable garage would be acceptable, not necessarily a Vauxhall garage.

    i have sold cars on the side of the road with no wheels{only joking}
i dont think it makes too much difference really,
it your confidence in the motor that sells the car,
only those that do it by the book i feel may have less confidence,
    lets put it this way,
say a car is up for £2500,
we i hope all start at around £1800 bottom price,
the haggle starts, fault this ding that,
    you settle for £2300,
    garages are the same,

if you can talk the hind of a donkey you will sell it regardless

    just my opinion

    jason
