    Default reversed into!!

Car was parked outside and a young girl has over reversed and collapsed drivers side wing ,door won't open more than 18" without catching and arch is touching tyre, her dad came down and said he would pay for damage, thing is my wife is disabled and we need a car ....they have told me to hire one but I'm reluctant for obvious reasons, but worried about going through ins as it has mods not declared( yea I know I'm an idiot ) what would you guys do ?

I wouldn't admit to that on a forum first and foremost, you don't know if the other party could find that post.

Don't think your insurance will bother with mods as its not them that will have to pay out and i would not hire a car unless they give there card details to the company and not your own bud maybe time for a facelift conversion lol

But you could get it fixed at a bodyshop for a cash price and get them to pay the bill so no insurance involved.

But it does void his insurance meaning he was driving illegally and turning round any claim he might have against the other person because he shouldn't "technically" have been on the road.

Not judging anyone before anyone says anything, simply pointing out that you probably don't want to shout about it on a public forum. I'd be looking to get this thread removed if I was you and perhaps start a new one worded a tad more carefully. But up to you.

As for your actual question under your circumstances I'd be inclined not to involve the insurance at all if the other party is happy not to, BUT that said, you then run the risk they won't pay for things you "claim". If you do involve the insurance, there's a good chance they won't bother checking your car for un-declared mods and will just authorise it (your insurance pays for the repairs then claims it back of theirs, so they DO have to pay out) but if they DO check you're knackered.

THAT is why people it is allways best to declar any MODS if you don't declar any mods why bother paying your money to the insurance as it's void
