    Default Z18xe / Z18xer?

got a vauxhall vectra c facelift 1.8, and would like to start modifying the engine, give it abit more umph as they say just wondering what you could do....

thinking about taking the middle section out, as it isnt too loud with the backbox already on the car,

also not too sure on what the engine code is? as ive heard the manifolds are different??

any ideas feel free too post

    Thanks
    James

if you wana tune either the xe or xer your best off selling it and buying some thing that is a fast car to start with .....plus as the 1.8's tend to be lower spec a new bigger engine may have a better trim level so a win win really .....

caterham used to tune the 1.8 vec engine for their kit cars, I have seen a spec sheet,, 158 bhp,,, but dont get excited, it costs thousands, just not worth your while, I once had a Vec-b 1.6 with a fast road cam fitted, better,,,, but just not worth the expence for the small gains you will get,
looking on a tuning site £1200 got aprox 12 bhp with your vvt engine, just not worth it.

    Vehicle : Honda Civic

Trim : ES with Honda Image and City Packs

    Engine : 1.8 iVtec

    Year : 2009

    Mileage : 85000

    Default

Superchips do an upgrade but its only 7bhp for nearly £300, K&N 57i may give you another 3 or 4 BHP, exhaust maybe another 2 or 3. So around £800 for 14bhp tops, not a lot for a lot.........

Sorry but I disagree with this, I have a 52plate 1.8 club saloon and it is high spec and many are suprised at how much umph it's got. I can wear the front tyers out in 6 months (although high spec it as not got traction control, enabled) I manage to spread it out to about 18 month by driving steady although to wheel spin the thing is not that difficult. It's programed to be in sports mode and sits on 17" wheels, she sits about 1.5" lower than a 2 or 2.2 when side by side.

I was at 125mph and climbing (through france) until she clocked it and I had to slow down?

And it pulls a 1200kg (12ton for the mods lol) caravan with ease

But the erratic idle is presenting a problem to cure at the moment

So I am unsure where the dislke for the 1.8xe comes from?

    *1.2 ton

I have a 1.8, and tbh, it's not the fastest thing in the world...but when the CDTi boys are having god knows how many problems, it's worth knowing the 1.8 is quite reliable compared to the CDTi engines...and the Derv boys know it...

think your living in a bubble ........... ....only way your gonna wear the tyres out on a vec c 1.8 in 6 months is if the tracking is out ....how is it programed to run sports mode ? whats that on a 1.8 .?....club high spec ...id hate to think what a ls is like then ....have you had the dash and ecu programed for the 17's if not i would guess the 125 is a bit over egging it .... best advice i can give is drive a big engine'd vec c and feel the diference ......
