    Default Cambelt change on a 150 cdti 16v

    Mines a 57 plate with nearly 38k, it's goin in for a full fluid change service tomoro, when does the belt need done?

    Vauxhall say 80k or 8 years but most people recomend 60k or 6 years as thats when the water pump's seem to start failing.

    My recommendation m8 is don't go over 60k.

    i would deffo agree with the above 2 posters... 60k is more than enough for the water pump tbh

    picked my car up last week.Has 60k on the clock.Asked about the cambelt.
    One guy came back and said its 100k or 10years.lol
    Then another guy came out and said thats true but your car has just had the cambelt and water pump done.lol
    This is a vauxhall garage.What pish are they feeding people.
    why they done mine at that stage but in there eyes good for another 40k.lol

    FFS id take that with a pinch of salt. Get the cover off and double check it has been done youll definatly see if its a new belt thats on. I was under impression it was 10 years or 100k too.

    It used to be 100k/5 years but Vx changed it to 80k/4years. But the pulleys and water pump themselves are being pushed with that interval and then there is the belt which starts to fray around 50k. Some say the belt is fine but I wouldn't be resting the fate of my engine on it.
