TXAutosport Intercooler Kit for 1.9CDTi 150 interest

Hi all,

I noticed this week in Total Vauxhall that TXAutosport are offering an Intercooler Kit for the Astra MK5 1.9CDTi 150 for £299.

A quick phone call to TXautosport has resulted in my car being booked in to see if the Astra Kit can be made to fit into my Vectra C 1.9 CDTi.

If this comes off it means that a Kit will be available from TXAutosport as they are going to use my car as a test bed.

I will try and get some pictures up when it happens of the various stages of removing and fitting.

Some of you will know that my car is not a standard CDTi as it has had a few things done already:

AET Hybrid Turbo
Sachs Uprated Clutch
Pre Cat pipe
De-cat
Full exhaust system
K&N Filter
BSR Remap

One thing to remember if you are interested in one of these kits when there done is you will need a remap to allow for the intercooler. Adding an uprated intercooler to a Diesel will not automatically increase BHP, extra fuelling needs to be added to make the most of the intercooler.
Its not like a Petrol where there is an increase straight away.

Once the intercooler is sorted then I will be off to get a new remap........

Kit for Astra MK5, knowing my luck it will fit the Vectra but only the facelift HAHA.

Once my bodywork has been tinkered with, these are the mods I will be looking at, It will be interesting to see how much performance you can gain from a 1.9CDTi and for how much.

The ECU would increase fueling automatically in response the the intake manifold temperature drop if the new intercooler was actually an improvement over the origional. So you should see increases in bhp/lbft and economy potentially straight away. The Astra has alot less room to work with mate, I would have throught the intercooler they have for that was a bit too small for yours with the hybrid. I looked at the kit and went with one twice as big.

Hopefully we will be able to squeeze the biggest one we can in. I have two in my garage to take with me plus what they have. I think we are mainly looking at using the Astra pipework in the kit rather than the intercooler its self.

i would certainly be interested as its the next thing im doing to mine along with the exhaust before the remap, atm im just gonna use a cheap frontera intercooler my mate has but if tx offered a kit it would be a no brainer

I paid about £300 for mine but could have had one custom made for £400 with mounts and the ends in the same place and size as standard. I was in a rush as always...

Been at TXAutosport today and we think we have been able to put a kit together. Loads of pics taken and they will be put up in due course along with a price for the kit.

I wouldn't got for the tx kit if they are still using the massive intercooler that they use on the astra turbo's as when i had ti on my petrol turbo's it decreased the power compared to standard vxr intercooler

did you remap the car afterwards to suit the new intercooler?
