So I have a hole in my AC condenser!

Have been to get the AC serviced and they found a hole in the condenser. They told me to not waste my money getting a new one as it would be ££££ by the time they fitted it. So I asked about the sealant kits you can buy to pach up the hole(s) they said to stay away from them as if I ever do have the money to repair the condensor then the sealant just makes a mess of everything and it's not good for their machine. I looked in halfords today and can get different kits from£20-£50 ish some are just a sealant meaning I would try that then a regas and some are gas oil moisture remover and sealant. I was wondering what every one thinks? I really don't have the £ to get the condenser done even if it was on the cheap.

Have any of you used them before.
Maybe I might be better just getting a top up can as after a service it lasts about a month then no gas?...
Any thoughts would be great

The condensors are only 100-150 quid and pretty easy diy fit. There is even a how2 on the subject

Thanks folks! All the fins on the condenser are rotten and falling out the guys said he has never seen one so bad before! So if I were to do this I would need another re gas on top? Also I worried about another leak after he found the one on the condensor he stopped looking in the bay and said it was a waste of time due to the mess of the condenser. I'm worried there could be another leak? I have a 3y.o and a 6m.o kid so want a cool temp on hot days for them. Just don't know if the wife would let me back in the house if I bought the new cond fitted it re gas and it still had a leak.

Unusual for there to be leaks anywhere else. The condensor is a known weak point on the Vec-C/Signum

Did he put the dye into it?

He put some funky yellow stuff in but I thought that might have been the oil? He had a hand held sniffer tool which was a gas detector. That's how he found the leak.

My condensor is goosed as well and you can get them for about £90 + vat. Looks a dead easy fit, i am going to get some mesh for behind my lower grill to save any stone damage next time.

when you've got bumper off replacing it, put some mesh behind bumper to protect shiney new condenser new condenser is only my list of things to do.
