60k or 6 year as i have just ordered mine from eurocarparts when they had 30% of service parts over bank holiday.
60k is the official interval, but personally i'd do it sooner. Not much worse than a snapped cambelt... Game over for the engine...
wow i took a chance vectra elite 1.8 petrol cam belt changed 2 weeks ago at 80k how lucky am i lol
Dont think ive seen a broken timing belts on the 1.8 on this forum, most likely due to their much shorter change intervals. As already stated 6 years or 60K, Id defiantly get it done now though.
before or after a 2000 mile trip to the french alps?
Eh... Definatly before
Don't forget the water pump as well......I also had the micro V belt changed at the same time even though it isn't mentioned in the Vxl service manual.
Why...????
For the cost of one and the fact that work was being done at that end of the engine with the timing belt change & water pump.
