    Default obd2 reader??????

    hi there has anyone any experiance of reading the codes from your veccy?
    i bought an obd2 autel geniscan gs400 £80 off ebay, followed all the instructions but sadly it wont communicate,(2.0dti 02)now looking at the end of the connector which plugs into the car there is only pins in

    • 5
    • 6
    • 7
    • 10
    • 14
    • 15
    • 16
    now the cars pins are different (cant be bothered to go and list them)

    so should i buy a cable with all 16 pins present to get it to work or do i flog it back on ebay (it is working just not on my car at present)

    sounds like you need a new lead..

    have you tried the companies website??

    the plugs are the same..maybe it's just the terminals that differ??

    hi there thanks for replying, yes the terminals are different from the male connection to the female one, ive tried the website but they only offer

    pc connection in with full 16pin lead not the serial to full 16pin

    however i asked on ebay a guy who sells these gs400's and he said it wont work on y20dth diesel engines as these use a simtec protocol????


    seems wierd

    I typed a load of codswallop lol about flashing displays, didnt read the thread properly... Maybe a new lead would help?

    hi if found out its not compatible with the dti as its a simtec protocol not obd2

    Diesel engined vehicles didn't start to use obd2 until, IIRC, about 2004. I will check my facts at work on Monday.
