    Default eml and egr valve

as above had diagnostics machine plugged into car today and has come back as egr valve causing the problem

now i know there the threads on here about how to remove and clean and replace them

but im not very technical minded or good at doing stuff like that

the stealership wanted £385 for the part plus half a days labour to fit one so was £710 inc vat

garage where found the fault wanted £395 fitted

what am wondering is can i get it done any cheaper

or buy the part cheaper and pay someone from here who good with stuff like this to fit it for me ??

im based in leeds and my car is 53 plate 2.2 sri dti

    many thanks

All it probable needs is just a clean and all that will cost you is a the price of a can of carb cleaner , have a look in the how 2s for a guide to help you, it really is very simple to do
A Egr , boost sensor , inlet manifold clean will only take an hour max .

Wow, TIS only gives 30mins for an EGR change, I would certainly challenge the labour time...

I think for the dealer who quoted £710 to change an egr it is name and shame time .

There should be a Law to ensure that we all know we are about to be robbed at that dealer - they should have to wear masks so we can tell....

as mentioned before, buy from another source and get someone to fit it... Should only take about 1.5-2hrs to remove the old manifold and fit a nice new shiny one. But before you do that as bob said may just be that its crudded up and needs a damn good cleaning?

Anyone up in Leeds that can help out?
