EGR blanking

Hi what advantage is there to blanking the egr valve off on a 1.8 petrol? As ive posted in another post ive been getting my emissions light on (fault code P0036 HO2 sensor Bank1 sensor2) and it was suggested that it maybe down to the egr valve, I know its not leaking as tried spraying carb cleaner around it and found no difference. I have read up and it appears that vx blanked off and removed the egr on some 1.8's, is it just a case of making a plate and putting it between the egr valve and it's mounting as i did on my mondeo tdci??? cheers

im looking into this myself, im getting a plate from vx,

only thing im not sure about is........do you bolt the egr valve back on as it came off or is it one bolt fixing it with the egr valve angled????
