    Default peugeot 207 gt

well i went yesterday to see a 06 pug 207 gt 150bhp priced at 6k, first impressions where good! panoramic roof, all leather etc.
but when it came to test driving it, the idle sounded like it was missing a few beats making the rear right light to dim every few seconds.
i pointed this out to the salesman who acted oblivious and made the excuse its because its been sitting for a while so he decided to rev it right up past 6k rpm cold!!! causing a puff of black smoke to shoot out! i had to tell him to stop! i couldnt bealive it!

so i went a drive anyway and it drove lovley, felt nice and went suprisingly well! but it did have a few rattles and when putting up the windows they made a click noise which was kinda loud, so i gave it some beans etc and returned to the garage.

"So you happy with it then?" he said.

i told him i did like it but to many faults as its only had 1 owner and on 52k miles but he continued to try sell me it, i told him i would think about it and look up the faults on the net.

    So
Any one used one of these? or worked on them etc?

I'd stay well away - i had a brand new pug 207 as a courtesy car once and its the worst car ive ever driven, the gearbox felt like it came from a 20yr old mini and i think they rattle and bang from new

Isnt the 207 the deathtrap or was that a different model?

the 1.6thp engine is a co designed vehicle with BMW the same lump as used within the mini cooper ... its a nice engine but undoubtbly not the best build quality on a peugeot

i've covered Peugeots warranty for the past 8 years and to be fair they were better than Citroen up till around 18 months ago when they changed their gameplan (Ctroen that is and then released the new C5 and the DS3 etc)

if you can pass me the reg of the car you looked at via pm i'll check the warranty history and tell you from that what to expect

    regards

This would put me off...after seeing the way he abused it I wouldn't touch that car with a 50 feet barge-pole.
