Engine electronics light on

vectra 1.8 petrol 55 plate

tonight during a harrowing drive home on ice my warning light for engine/transmission electronics lit up. it seemed to occur some time during a nasty descent down an icy hill with me inching down it pretty much standing on the brake.

did the fault codes bit with brake/accelerator/ignition and got:

P0567 Cruise Control Resume Signal Malfunction
P0571 Cruise Control/Brake Switch A Circuit Malfunction

not sure how i ever got cruise control errors because at no point was i going fast enough to engage it. (in fact i never knowingly have)

brake lights function perfectly and the car didnt appear to change driving characteristics at all.

havent had chance to test if CC works as yet because the road conditions are still too dangerous.

any "leccy" specialists out there who have any thoughts or ideas what may have gone?

Had P0567 appear on our 55 reg Facelift Club Hatch 1.8 - Z18XE a while back, when checking for Fault codes with the Brake/Accelerator Pedal method against a U 480 DTC reader.
Cruise control seemed to work fine, so I left things alone.

It disappeared of it's own accord after a while as mysteriously as it had appeared; as did another code P1565 at a different time which I left alone as the car seemed to run fine, so again I left things alone & it too disappeared of it's own accord.

The U480 Code reader I bought off Ebay didn't pick either up but it recognised the can bus protocol the Vectra uses.

I put 'em down to being 'ghost' codes & known on here..see various posts.

I have the P1565 code on again after several months using the above method which I'm leaving again alone until it hopefully also disappears as it has done in the past; as U480 does not identify it as 'permanent' & the car seems to be running OK....
