How much have you spent on your vec in the last say,, 12 months/ two years,, I dont mean on mods or service items, I mean things that have gone wrong that realy you would not have expected to, when I have the work done for my advisory/ mot, I will have spent £700 in two years just to keep it running and some say I am lucky,,

Considerably less than that for me.

Apart from servicing, maintenance, brakes and tyres I have bought
    new camshaft sensor
    new crankshaft sensor
paid £85 to VX to have a go at changing an ECU.
All the above was an attempt to cure a problem that a cambelt change during the next normal interval solved.
Maybe bought a bulb or 2
2 front road springs at £30 each.

    So total about £220.

Can't think of anything else over the last 2 years.... and I have done about 60,000 miles in that time.

Nothing on mods - as not into modding my car.

Not mods or servicing? Since January this year that would be nothing then.

Yeah, most of mine was trying to resolve the timing issue - I can only think it was a stretched timing belt, spent money on stuff and it didn't cure the problem. Routine change of belt sorted it though. So otherwise only 2 road springs and a couple of bulbs (apart from servicing, maintenance and rubber) in the last 2 years - so can't complain.

TBH, if anything expensive needs doing, I may n ot bother. The car is prob only worth £500 now due to the 154,000 miles on the clock. 'webuyanycar' valued it at £510 a couple of months ago.

Um... £650 for new exhaust, old one blowing and falling appart so worked out cheaper to get a custom powerflow!

Had a spring snap, so have all been replaced with Eibach's £160

Rear contol arms are getting done soon which is £180 fitted.

So £810 so far, but will be £990 !! but all this is nothing compared to visiting the petrol station with a 3.2

Car has also just had a Major service and Cam belt so plenty more spent!

Well at 66k miles I am now at the stage of having/had to spend some cash
New Clutch (coverplate on original disintegrated) £425
New Springs + Rear Fixed brake Pipes £560
    New exhaust (from MIJ) £365
New Fan Regulator £160 last January, snow had partially melted and refroze in the drain tube so when the new snow melted it came flooding in through the pollen filter

£0, Nothing as well. Ok only had it since the middle of June but so far so good(touch wood). Do have an EML issue but it does not affect the cars running and the only the problem was the dashboard issue that cured itself and that's not come back.
