Question about Hid bulbs

Hi guys I orderd the 50w 5000k hid kit from hids direct last week, but when I went to fit it I noticed this.
Now the ballast's say 50w but the bulbs say 35w the kit works fine, I'd just like to now wether this is ok. Do the bulbs just determine the colour of the light that is output and the ballasts do the rest?. Overall I'm very impressed with the kit I'd just like to know that this set up is ok.

Im led to believe that 35W bulbs will do the job for 55/50w balasts but i wonder if there is too much pressure on the bulb thus reducing its life expectancy
