Default What engine temperature should the 150CDTI Be?

    Hi All,

I have a 2006 SRI 150 6spd CDTI Vectra. It takes a long time to warm up and when i am driving it, on the temp gauge near the speedo it operates at about 80 - 83 c.

Ive driven other cars that sit on 90c all the time, but this car doesnt really get there, only gets up to about 87c when sat in traffic for a long time, but when i start driving again goes back down to about 80c, is this right?

Im concerned as im sure this could affect fuel consumption?

If anyone has one of these, how long would you say it should take to warm up from cold when started and driving straight away? Miles or time wise?

    Cheers,

What you say sounds about right, my 08' 150 SRi CDTi only goes upto 90 degrees in heavy traffic or when driven very hard, but then very quickly returns to 83-85 degrees. Takes around 5 miles to warm up on gauge, but warm air passes thru vents a little quicker.....will take a while longer when deep winter sets in.

That is normal for cdti. Unless you get it less than 80(internal warming is not on), the temperature you said is normal to me. It make takes few miles (3-5?) to warm up, especially first drive in the cold morning.

Exactly as above...mine takes longer to warm up..but heat through the vents before the gauge moves...
Normally 83-85 around town and on a run...upto 90 in stop-start conditions but comes down to 85 very quickly when moving again.

Ok cheers guys. As you all have, hot air does come through depite showing cold on the gauge and then operates just over 80c. Just wanted to check as my old petrol 150 used to operate nearer to 90 all the time.

    thanks for the input.

Same here too. Disels naturally take a little longer to warm I think.

As said settles at about 85 - like my previous 1.8 and 2.0T both did.
