Removing particulate filter

Hi all having just had my particulate filter cleaned and erg replaced and now got an empty wallet iv herd on here peeps saying they have had the cat replaced with a straight through pipe.

To my understanding the cat is in the particulate filter so here's my question did you have any problems putting the vacuum pipes and sensor in the particulate filter in the straight through or do you need a remmap to have a straight through exhaust?

Depends if it's a diesel as some have a diesel particulate filter as well as a cat.

Hi basically you hav a cat and a particule filter or dpf as they are known

The cat is bolted on to the turbo then exhaust bolts on to
the car and the dpf is fitted in the mid section with 2 pressure pipes and one temp sensor

Basically in short to remove the dpf ad software to stop it doing regens you need to get the dpf removed from th cars ecu which is about 100-180 depending on where you go once removed then you can replace with a straight through pipe and either cut the pipes and sensor off or tie them up out the way

The cheap way to removing it is to take out the dpf smash the insides out so it's a hollow can then refit ad follow the smaller diameter pressure pipe to the bulkhead of the engine bay it goes
into a little black box looks like a match box size it is to the back right o the engine bay below the engine coolan bottle it has a plug and 2 pipes into the bottom take the smaller pipe off the crimp it over it's self and cable tie it so no air can escape thenstart your car up ad there will be no engine light on and you will have no dpf but apparantly every now and then it will do a regen which will result in alot of smoke but another person I know does not have regens after doing this so you will have to try to find out

As for the cat you can remove this no probs either welding in a de cat pipe or smashing the insides out then refitting it and it has no sensors so no probs there

It a 1.9cdti 150 with a crd-t fitted. Thanks Winnie that's helped clear up a few things will removing the dpf and cat make much difference as the dpf looks very restrictive!

Will make a massive difference mate as dpf is very restrictive

You will see a rise in mpg and better performance

I de catted a mondeo tdci and it was the best mod I did and I will be removing the cat and dpf from mine soon too

Type into google dpf removal softwareL and there are a few companys who do it And I know of a company in Newcastle but quite a trek have a search on google is your best bet

Great advice, though seems obvious to me now - doh! I'm having serious DPF issues (see contributions here http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showth...+filter&page=3). Just found a remap firm in Cannock and sent them an enquiry, so may well go down this route and rid the Vectra of this work of Satan!

Hi Barney I rang them they are very expensive they quoted me 350quid to just remove the dpf software

Cheapest place I have seen for dpf software removal is pdtuning in Newcastle upon Tyne but they do have 2 franchise is Lincoln and London the price they quoted menwas 150 quid which is cheap

If you ring the main Newcastle number and speak to them about there Lincoln and London branches they can arrange to get it done there hope this helps guys
