    Default Rear heated seats wiring

I've checked my centre console and see I have the plug connectors for heated rear seats. I'm not really interested in adding that feature but was wondering about using the feed. What I'm looking at is fitting some entertainment in the back for the kids. My plan is to fit an archos mp4 and A/V dock into the rear console to replace the ashtray then hardwire a set of composite vid & audio L & R sockets both sides, put headrest screens in with cables through the front seat backs, out the bottom of the seat and into the sockets in the console to supply the vid/audio from the player. But as well as that side of things, I'm also going to need a power supply.

My question is (as I don't have a meter), are the heated rear seat plugs live as they are? I'm hoping they may be powered anyway as they're taped up and covered and I have heated fronts already. If they don't have power is it just a case of fitting a relay or fuses in the right place or would I have to get the rear heated seat feature enabled with tech2?

Also there are 5 wires in each plug as follows:

    Green plug
    1. black & white
    2. brown
    3. no wire
    4. grey & yellow
    5. brown & white
    6. brown

    Brown plug
    1. black& white
    2. brown
    3. no wire
    4. grey & yellow
    5. brown & green
    6. brown

Can anyone shed light on what wire is for what? Now I know I could take a feed from the rear 12v outlet but I have other plans for that so would prefer not to use it on this project and as I have the plugs for rear seat heaters there already it seems a shame not to use them. Any advice or info would be much appreciated.

There was a similar post a few months back, had a search but can't find it but I seem to remember that it needs some fuses and relays fitting in the rear fuse box. Not sure about the tech 2 session as some people have said when they did the fronts they didn't and some said they did.

I'll get in trouble again if I put my tongue somewhere I shouldn't

I might be able to borrow a meter so I'll have a go at that and check out the rear fuse/relay box to see what's there. Was hoping someone could shed light on the plug wiring and if I'd need to have it tech2'd but sounds like it might be luck of the draw as to whether the circuit is pre-enabled. Still, if anyone else has played about with powering up the rear seat heater function, I'd be grateful for your wisdom and experience.

Lemme get this right..... Are you trying to pinch the power from the cables which the buttons attach to in the centre consoles rear end or the power from the plugs which would go to the heater pads in the seats?
Plasma's Tech2 services are now open and able to provide services

The former plasma, I've got 2 sets of wires in the centre console behind the back ashtray. Those are the ones I want to use and would like to know which wires do what. I haven't checked to see if they're powered up yet but if they are not is it a case of finding the fuse/relay positions and retro fitting said fuses/relay(s) or would I need to get the fuction activated with tech2?
