07 Wiper Problem

I own a 07 vectra sri and it has had an intermittent fault on the wipers and washers for a while now but it always solved itself with a bit of time and i think i probably noticed it in winter. But just this week, twice they have failed on me while out and about and in a downpour. The symtoms are as follows.

The wipers work ok for a while but then they start sticking on the screen. Then a few minutes later they stop mid way across the windscreen and thats normally when the washer motor stops too.

My questions are

1, is the washer and wiper motors linked in anyway, should the washer motor stop because my wipers arent working.

2, My 07 vectra is still under 3 years old so will this problem be covered under the manufacturers warranty.

3, After reading a variety of threads on ere it appears that it could be down to a faulty motor but with the washers stopping and if they arent related could it be something like the switch etc.

Will the wiper motor affect the washers though ?

I have something similar I think, in the last couple of days my wipers have just completely stopped working, literally I turn them on and nothing happens, all of a sudden driving don't the road they'll start working for a few minutes then stop again. I checked the fuses and they are fine but it seems there is no power to them, the relay has power because I can hear it and feel it when the wiper down is pushed... This I think has got to be something to do with the electrics surely, but I really don't know, has anyone got any ideas?
