    Default pre facelift vec c 2.2(z22se)problems

    i have just had a new downpipe and centre box fitted to my car,and ever since then its been running like a pig, poor fuel consuption,lacking power,poor idle ,ive cleaned the tb and blanked the egr all ready so its not them the car was running fine before exhaust was fitted,also i get the check safeguard and the car with spanner lights up then goes out,im going to buy position 1 and 2 lambdas and a coolant temp sensor and spark plugs could it be anything else any help would be great

    To be honest mate I was gonna suggest lambda sensor as there is every possibilty it's been damaged, as they are pretty delicate things,have you had a visual at the sensor that sits on the top of the manifold , it's quite easy to see if you look at the back there, could even the cable going to it that's damaged.

    I'd look at the O2 sensors mate. Vid had the same problem on his 2.2 after getting a new downpipe and it turned out to be the O2. It first went in because there was a bit of weld in the o2 thread, then it went again and turned out the tip was damaged. Think there about £60 each.

    cheers guys lambda will be my first port of call also ive been out and had a look position 1 seems ok nothing visuallsy wront but position 2 has been bodged its been cross threaded and in at an angle

    That's the one them mate, I believe #2 affects fueling and that's exactly what Vids looked like.

    Vids was made by a zorst place, the plug didn't seat properly because of the little bit of weld in the thread. To fix it they just drilled a new hole welded a new nut on for the plug to screw into and then just blanked the old broke hole, so no need for a new downpipe.
