car keys

Have recently bought a 58 reg vectra sri 1.8 hatchback which has a 2-button key.My previous vectra had a 3-button key which gave independant control of the boot lock.Can a three button key be used on the facelift vectras and if so what difference in price are they to the 2-button type?Any answers will be much appreciated.

Further to my previous thread on car keys for facelift vectras,I have found a solution to the 2 button or 3 button remote key.The new 2 button
keys have no independant control of the boot lid lock i.e.the unlock button unlocks the car doors as well as the boot lid.This means that when
unloading a boot and leaving car unattended the car is unlocked.At first I
thought I would need to change the key for a 3 button one.But if when you have unlocked the car and the boot lid and opened the lid,you then relock the car the car is then locked when unattended.You the close the
boot lid on finishing unloading and the boot lid is then also locked.This might be of help to anyone who does not want to pay for a 3 button key.

That sounds a bit dodgy, especially if you were for some reason to chuck your keys in the boot then shut the lid forgetting they were there!!

Lol, I dropped my keys into my old Omega boot just as I closed it as described here. Fortunately my wife had the spare set!

Just remembered some years ago I did this in an old Carlton outside BlockBuster, parents had a spare set so we had to walk several miles to their house to get the damn things, needless to say we didn't get to see the film we rented that night!! LOL
