    Wink Disc Brakes

How long should your standard disc brakes last? I bought my Vectra C 12 months ago and the disc were new all round, sorry I don't know make or model) however, I've noticed that the rear brake disc's are quite worn and so have the brake pads.

The front disc and pads were put on at the same time but seem to be fine...

    I this normal... 12 months 13k

rear brakes should last longer as they are used less.. sometimes cheap crappy kit has been one to not last very long.. maybe an idea to get them looked at.. a new set of discs and pads from vx will only cost you £85, they are easy enough to chnage yourself if you wish to try..

I mate of mine bought a cheap set of discs for his volvo and they last just over 300 miles...

...and I do reckon that those discs were originals too... Bloomen ek the carrier bolts were SOOO tight, they had a lot of old lock tight on the bolts.

Advice for people changing rears - get some plus gas and spray the carrier bolts well in advance... You will also need an E18 spanner and socket and a long bar or torque wrench...

No - the bolts that were VERY tight were the carrier bolts that hold the carrier to the hub that once removed allow you to get the disc off.. the calliper slide bolts were fine.

Rears wear more than the fronts unusually most have said in the past!, its due to the handbrake constantly adjusting. my fronts will see 6yrs untouched!!, done the rear pads only last yr.
