    Default CDTI's

    Hey everyone.

Having owned a couple of Vectra Sri's and Gsi's in the past i bought a Saab 9-3 Aero 3 years ago which i have just sold today. Im now looking to get back into the world of the Vauxhall with a 1.9 CDTI.

Having spent days reading through the forum i fully understand all the issues that seem to be attached with the CDTI 150 which if im honest is kinda puting me off. I do however have a few questions which i couldn't see an answer to so im kinda hoping someone could help me out with

From what i understand the common faults to look out for are

    DMF
    Swirl Pot
    EGR Valve

Have i missed any ? Is there a year of car that has been manufactured with revised parts which should hopefully eradicate these issues ? Im looking for a car around 2006 / 2007 so im kinda hoping so.

I have seen a couple of cars im interested so will Vauxhall provide me with a history of repairs carried out if i were give them the registration number ?

    Hope someone can help me

    Thanks in advance

This can be hit and miss

If the car has only ever been to one dealership, then they may be willing to print out the entire history

If the car has been to different dealerships then some work may be missing, unless by luck you have the receipts (but many people are reluctant now as it has their personal information on it)

If the car has had any VX warranty repairs, then Retailer Warranties may be willing to advise what work they authorised, as well as any they declined

Thought this might be the case. Think ill call the garage tomorrow to find out where it was purchased and where its been serviced. One of the cars im interested in is a 1 owner car so hopefully it'll have been serviced in the one place. Never thought of getting in touch with Vauxhall warranties so thanks for that!!

To be fair to the CDTi it's probably outsold all other engines put together so more failures show up on the forum. There are many cars out there that run fine.

If you're looking at a late model CDTi it will have the modified inlet manifod which, with luck, is more reliable

Although it costs £12 to fix so not really a huge problem in the scheme of things compared with the costs of DMF and Inlet Manifolds!

As mentioned above, people generally come to forums with problems so there will be an unusually high number of people on here complaining about problems with 150s however there will be a lot more people out there driving around without the need to come here because their car runs fine!

I went through the same thing when I bought my Vectra. Read on here about all the problems and it kinda put me off but in the end I decided to go for it (Poowwwweerrrrr!) and so far I've had it a year and done 24k miles and only experienced the 3rd injector problem which I fixed for £12.

You take a risk buying any used car, could be a lemon, could be a great car.
