Default had a bad night last night :(

well..I was working last night (friday) and was having a poor shift on the taxi's...thought my luck started to change as I got a £8 tip then I got a local trip for £10...then the bad luck came back. Had just set off back to the local nightclub and tryed turning a tight corner in the snow in the focus estate I was driving and I skidded towards the kerb. though maybe if I straighten up I might just mount the kerb and maybe get away ok, but how wrong was I . instead the car hit the kerb with a loud bang as it was a high kerb and just stopped in its tracks. got out to check for damage and noticed the drivers side wheel now touching the arch . had to drive about 5 mile with the wheel scrubbing the arch to get it back to the depot. when I got back to the depot I had a quick look to asses the damage. looks like it needs a new wheel and tyre, bottom arm and god knows what else. gonna cost a fair bit no doubt. Well all that shift for nothing and maybe even more money on top of that...stupid fords. And snow.

How come you have to pay for it and not insurance? I know nothing about taxi driving so is this the norm?

could of went down the insurance route but it is £350 excess then the premium jumps up aswell. best bet was to pay for it myself and not tell insurance about it.

to be honest it was my own fault for not going slow enough and didn't judge the corner properly. But it was a side road so probably never gets gritted.
