Y20DTH 2.0 DTI 2004 Vectra - Increase BHP?

Hi,

My questions are, to anyone that can answer please:

Am I correct in thinking I only have 78bhp curently? and...

Can this be increased?

Any pros and cons welcome too.

If its the same as the Astra 2.0DTI , the missus had one a few years back , 100bhp, and has a VP44 fuel pump,

ECU/FUEL PUMP comdination, very hard to tune other that with a wire in tuning unit, take it to about 125bhp but you have to turn the power down in cold weather due to over fueling,

I'm sure someone else will be along soon with other options,

if you want more power i recomend selling your car and getting another vectra with a better engine

As mark said they can be tuned...BUT they don't respond well to power hikes..the fuel pump can fail when fitted with a tuning box as they can't take the strain...

to be honest.. the 2.0DTi isn't really a 'tuneable' car with reliable results....

Thanks all, suspected as much...not worth the hassle by the sounds of it. I had thought it would be at least 110bhp as standard - didnt research enough before buying it.

140bhp sounds much better, I read somewhere on here that there is a risk of fuel pump failure if you tune these engines - anyone know more please?

IIRC the ECU is built in to the fuel pump, hence the Hybrid system , and they tend to be weaker than the high pressure pumps on the CDTI,

All I can say , I had a tuning unit fitting the a 2.0DTI and it never failed, in the summer (warm) months it was fine a good power increase, in the colder months I had to turn down down the unit to about 10 over standard as the engine used to , ,,,, well chuff big black clouds of soot out and it used to fly off up the road at a great rate of notts due to over fuelling ,

needless to say the misses didn't like it, if you can a remap is the best way to go but it depends of the ECU

Had a remap done by regal on my 03 2.0DTI vectra elite. Only a week in but it all seems good. Regal also assured me that there are all the necessary features built in. with no extra power available if the radiator water is under 60 or over 110, nor if the outside air temp is over 85. IF any of these factors kick in, it keeps the power as it was before the upgrade tostop the ecu blowing uo But lets wait and see!!!!!!

torque is much improved as is the drive tho if i put too much throttle in there is abit of vibration (cant be wheel spin at 2000rpm) but with a steady squeeze the power improvement is fab.
Ill update this once I know how it settles in.

they reckon it isnow 130bhp and 280nm of torque (205 lbft in old money)
