Ex Police VXR ( Special V6 )

Hey guys

I have over the last few weeks been looking at Ex Police Vectra's classed as "Special V6" which everyone knows is the VXR engine, gearbox, breaks and suspension in SRi trim.

Now i have friends that work for Thames Valley Police and they speak highly of how well and often the get serviced and parts get replaced not repaired etc... however most of there ex ones have 140k on the clock and are forsale in yorkshire when they come up.

I've found some in Manchester for the same price which going by the number plates are ex Machester Police and have around 100k on the clock.

Another problem i have come across is i've seen some for sale with around 40k on the clock and when i speak to the owner they tell me its 40k since the clocks were calibrated by RS so how can i find out how many miles they done before they were calibrated?

I main concern is the mileage on any of these cars which are high for Turbo cars, i cant see any of these getting to this mileage without needing a new turbo at some point is there anyway i can find out whats been repaired/replaced? Also how strong are the Engines and Gearboxes on the VXR. I mean if i get a 100k one i know the Thames Valley Police ones are still going at 140k, i barely do 10k a year.

Seems on paper there a good buy you get alot of car for your money saving around £5000 grand on a same year VXR.

Any help / advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks mate i've spoke to this place before and they dont get many Vectra's in and when they do its usally just the 3.2 V6.

police cars are maintaind with no cost inmind, were I live my mate works at the warwickshire mot and repair center forthe council, and they repair the st focus and all other police and fire engine motors, the parts never get repaird jus replaced, for eg a focus was in last week with a wee engine tap, my mate said he could of repaird it but the police force asked for a new st engine to be put in instead.

I asked him about ex police cars and he said u crnt buy a better secod hand car, the only one down side is the interior, sum times it a tad tacky but that's it, do not let miles put u off chap
