That could be it I suppose.

I thought that mine went quite well with the CRD box set on its -3 setting. It didn't feel much different going any higher than that TBH,and now that I've found that the ocassional 'spanner light' was caused by a dodgy boost sensor I may just be tempted to stick the box back on with the low setting.

I'm running my DTUK Green box on setting 7, which I find to be a nice middle setting. I know people usually whack them straight to the highest setting until the car starts to smoke, but 7 on mine doesn't give the really aggressive power delivery people expect.

I had a tuning box on my car (not going to mention what type it was to avoid arguments or offence) and the car didn't agree with it at all.

She was fast, but the smoke was horrendous, the turbo boost erratic and one day, the car went into safety mode so I pulled in, removed the box and it has been in the side pocket of my boot for a few months now.

This was all with it NOT being turned right up, it was only 1 pin above the setting it came from.

Even with it set as it came in the post, all it did was smoke more, it was no quicker.

I have got the money now for a Regal remap and that's what I'll be going for!!

More of a coincidence however is that the facelift version has an engine torque output that equals the torque rating of the gearbox exactly (400Nm).The CO2 emissions are in fact better on the EURO 4 engine.186 g/km compared to 192 g/km for the pre-facelift SRI Hatch.Could have easily gone to 195 or 200bhp no problem. Why not?

I suspect that VX/Opel simply decided not to as that engine was coming to the end of its life cycle. The same could be said of the 2.0T, as the Insignia apparently uses a different 2.0T engine, which will probably be the 'last hurrah' for the 2.0T with smaller-capacity, more fuel-efficient turbo petrol engines the way to go.

Also the main imperative seems to have been compliance with Euro4 regs.
As with the 2.0T the V6CDTI was never a big seller, and there were plans to have new V6 diesel engines in the Insignia.

I'd heard that the Saab's had trouble with those,Obviously it's going to be expensive to put right ?

I got the photo off of mobile.de. It's a Signum 3.0CDTi with ONLY 140.000km. There have been far more than one with total engine failure. Some with 90.000km or so.

Saab's and Renault's 3.0s are prone to premature cylinder linders failure because of bad oil cooling systems. Opel have apparently sorted this out before fitting the engine in their cars (the 3.0 was first available in the Saab 9-5 in 2001 and the Renault VelSatis in 2002), but there still seem to be some isolated cases of complete engine failure.

If it drinks even the slightest amout of coolant...burn the car immediately as a new engine from Opel/Vauxhall will cost you a nice £14000.

    Cheers

    Sad, but true
I was about to buy a 9-5 3.0TiD 2005, but decided against it.
Fingers crossed that my 3.0DTi with more than 150k miles won't POP!
