Default 2.0 DTI Elegance - what kind of engine?

    Hi

I havent got my 2004 2.0 DTI Elegance yet, and im really not into the Vauxhall/Opel world.

I sold my old car on thursday and bought the Vectra on Friday...Steped into the shop, tried the car and liked it right away.
Perfect car for me and my new little family

But this was a fast buy, so fast that i didnt do any research on the car or the brand before i wrote the contract...
I have read allot in here now, and found out that this engine isnt very popular and rather dull... hehe but that doesent matter now.
101bhp is not a rocket, but its economical!

I cant find much information about this engine on the net, but maybe you guys could tell me if its a regular diesel engine, or if its a turbo diesel engine?
    Dont laugh!

    Kenneth
    pardon my bad english....

Turbo diesel what is the mileage? & when was the last service?

Any service history with it? and don't take the garage word it was serviced before you bought it in most cases this is not true look for new filters, The oil will probably be black due to soot in a diesel.

    Turbodiesel.. ah ok

Milage is 153.000km (1 previous owner).
Think he used it in his work as an salesperson.

Servicehistory is complete with the latest service at apr. 145.000km.
Next service at 170.000km acording to the stamp in the servicebook.
All services is taken by the shop i bought the car, wich is the official Opel dealershop in Norway.

It's a diesel so give it regular oil changes not every 20k thats twenty thousand miles as it is here in the uk.

Change the engine oil and filter every 6 months or every 6k miles, this is due to the turbo requiring good quality oil to the bearings, This is the main problems with turbos on higher mileage cars infrequent oil changes poor oil and the turbo goes bang.!

There was a taxi around here same car as yours with 450,000 miles on the clock same engine just had regular oil changes every 3 months this is how it survived, traded it in for the insignia.

Yes, i usually change the oil in the fall and in the autumn.

I realy cant wait to get my new car now. Start to order inn some new cosmetic items and shine her up
Its hard not to when you find a club like this..
Maybe its not the biggest engine, but that doesent matter on the looks of the car.

Hey mate, the Dti is a fairly solid work horse, not fast as you say but very economical and very reliable. As said change the oil at least every 10k and use good quality oil.

Using good quality fuel will also help keep the fuel pump in good check (Shell etc.)

Also worth using a fuel additive every so often
