2 things missing on the wifes SRi

First was a CD auto changer so fixed that by replacing the CD30 with a CDC40, no problem.

Secondly she misses not having electronic climate control, I guess that's a bit harder to fit, if not please let me know. So she suggested that we just swap cars, I thought about this long and hard (1 sec) and discounted it, though I have promised when I get a VXR that she can have the GSI. Then she tells me that the 19s would have to go so there might at some point be a GSI running on SRI 17s, a first?

How did you go about replcing the CD30, just bought a CDC40 to upgrade my CD30 (bought 2nd hand so no manual, but do have sceurity code), installed fine but getting nothing through it, unsure how to enter the security code (on the CD30 you just push and the AS button, but no AS button on the CDC40). Confused.

Climate has all sorts of things that aircon doesn't, it's a no go on that one I'm afraid.

I wonder if anyone could make something to look like climate control.. Surely it can be done, changing the knobs for buttons?? I assume that when a knob is turned, it sends a command to a computer to tell it to move the vent thingy's unlike older cars that were mechanically driven.. like my escort.. you could see the wire in the footwell, i pulled on it once out of curiosity and the knobs moved with it!

The CDC40 has to be Tech2ed from the donor car and then Tech2ed in to the new host, just like pairing a bluetooth device. If it hasn't been depaired/tech2ed from the donor then you have a very expensive door stop. Also the CDC40 is a full canbus HU. Is your car runing full or half canbus. SO unless you can get tech2ed nothing you can do. The donor may have done it correctly but your VX garage have to tech it in, check it out.

exactly. if you haven't sen it tech2'd out of the other car, and it won't install via tech2 into your car, then it's scrap..

yep, but it stops then nicking the unit as it renders it un-useable, and the CD30 and above range are all nodes on the CANBUS, so need to be removed via the CAN network

Also for the CDC40 you need to change the monitor screen as well to the higher definition one. Full canbus , good point her SRI is a 55 plate pre facelift so no problem there.
