As I'm driving around in this now 14 year old car of course I'll find some stuff that needs fixing or things I think could be improved...

As of writing this I've had the car for about a month and I'm really enjoying the driving experience.

So far I've managed to do the following:

    • Had the entire chain, guide and tensioner assembly replaced, good as new now!
    • Cleaned up the vectra logo on the back (letters had fallen off some time in the past)
    • Polished the headlights and turned the adjustment screw by 720 degrees
    • Cleaned and Polished exhaust tips
    • Recharged the battery because the alarm was going off constantly due to low voltage
    • Fixed the rattling seatbelt adjuster in the right hand C pillar
    • Retrofitted cigarette lighter (still need to get a new one because this one is damaged but it works)
    • Retrofitted traction control button
    • Refitted the right hand A pillar trim (one of the clips was loose)
    • Gotten some new clips for the bonnet liner that had fallen out sometime in its past
    • Replaced the battery box cover with one that actually closes properly
    • Disassembled and cleaned up cruise control stalk because it intermittently didn't work

    Still to do:

    • Do the air box mod
    • Replace front control arm bushings (ordered)
    • Replace front sway bar bushings (ordered)
    • Replace rear sway bar bushings (ordered)
    • Replace pollen filter (ordered)
    • Replace air filter (ordered)
    • Replace front wipers (ordered)
    • Replace rear wiper (ordered)
    • Replace rear banana arms
    • Get car aligned
    • Replace rear view mirror (current moves too easily)
    • Replace right hand side parcel shelf clip (currently broken off)
    • Check serpentine belt and pulleys (something makes a slight noise)
    • Check engine/gearbox mounts
    • Find source of coolant smell
    • Replace rear brake discs and pads
    • Bleed brake + clutch system
    • Paint brake calipers (still deciding on the color)
    • Fix driver seat creaking on low position (found this)
    • Find a way to keep the rear floormats from flying around
    • Retrofit gas strut in glovebox for soft-open
    • Retofit an Irmscher grill (let me know if you have one for sale)

This list will probably grow by a mile

And don't worry, I'll post some new pics when I make some.

belts serpentine could be tensioner bearing.
you could align her yourself with a couple of tap measureds string and some wooden planks....a lot cheaper.
parcel shelf clip eBay.(apart from me teal clip)

You went up to a VXR then? How does it compare?

Thanks, I'll check that out pretty soon, I've been wanting to replace the belt anyway, looks old.

Alignment is expensive yeah, but I'm not confident enough to do it myself when computers can do it better :P

The 19’s make the ride harder I drove quicker to work in the 2l than I do in the vxr. I love the fact you put your right foot down and smile...
The alignment is **** easy if I can figure it out it must be.

A small progress update, still a lot of work to-do

    Done since my last update:
    • Did the air box mod (removed the pipe from the airbox)
    • Replaced front lower control arm bushings
    • Replaced front sway bar bushings
    • Replaced pollen filter
    • Replaced front wipers
    • Replaced rear wiper
    • Replaced rear view mirror (auto-dimming one, still need cable for it)
    • Replaced right hand side parcel shelf clip
    • Bleed brake + clutch system
    • Replace gas strut in glovebox for soft-open

    Still to-do:
    • Find and install auto-dimming mirror loom
    • Find and install pre-facelift light/rain sensor and loom
    • Replace rear sway bar bushings
    • Replace rear sway bar arms
    • Replace rear lower control arm bushings
    • Bleed clutch system
    • Get car aligned
    • Replace lower engine mounts
    • Check v-belt and pulleys (it's making a churning noise)
    • Find source of coolant smell (seems to be coming from back of the block)
    • Replace rear brake discs and pads
    • Paint brake calipers (gonna go for orange)
    • Fix driver seat creaking on low position
    • Fix rattle near parcel shelf
    • Find a way to keep the rear floormats from flying around
    • Retofit an Irmscher grill (let me know if you have one for sale)

You can align the car yourself it’s really not hard and saves £100.

Just need the auto dimming mirror cable, I did check out a Signum today that had it but I was pretty sure it wouldn't fit so I didn't bother picking it out of the roof liner :P

I've checked some videos, but I don't even have a flat surface to work on... I do my maintenance mainly on the street.
