Blue Meanie comes back from it's service and wheel repair, and it's raining hard.

Hmmm, handling feels a little strange thru the puddles, but maybe I'm just not used to my own car after driving the dis-courtesy car for the day.

Get back on to the driveway, and they've put what was the two front tyres on the LHS (less tread) and what was the two rear tyres on the RHS (a lot more tread).

They got it half right to swap the good rears to the front. Well that's what I do so you need a complete set of tyres at once.

I was told that you should always have your best tyres on the rear of the car,the reason given to me was lossing the rear is a harder skid to control than loosing the front end.

I always wear the front down, then swap when I get fresh ones put them on the rear and use the half worn ones from the rear on the front.

Learnt that lesson one day when the worn rears stepped out on me...not good in an estate!!

Hmm perhaps I shouldn't do that then.

I always have done but my last car of 5 years was an Audi S3 hence a 4wd and it said in the manual to do that and to change all at once. This is my first FWD car.

Interesting, I always put the best tyres on the front. On a front wheel drive car they do the majority of the work anyway, the back wheels just go along for the ride. On a rear wheel drive car I would agree that the best tyres need to go on the rear.

I was amazed too when i was told not to swap the worn fronts to the rear as i have done it a few times before.

Anyway, I'm fairly certain that it isn't written anywhere to put the "worn tyres on the left hand side", "better ones on the right hand side". I could understand the other way round, it might help on roundabouts...

Went back to Dealer today, and swapped them back again with no fuss.
